April 14, 1945, near Gusten, Germany. Flying fast and low as Capt. Richard W. Asbury destroys a Focke-Wulf 190 strafing elements of Gen. George Patton's 3rd Armored Division on an open stretch of road. For his actions on this day, Captain Asbury was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross and the status of Ace.
