As Germany rides her grim whirlwind to destruction, the gallant airmen of the Luftwaffe continue their epic struggle against the relentless tide engulfing their Fatherland.
In this painting, Kommandeur Gunther Rall counts home his pilots of II JG-11, echoing a scene that was repeated hourly during the last chaotic days of the Reich. During the signing of the prints General Rall remarked how poignantly Mike Howard has captured the very essence and atmosphere of those days.
