Fighter Two - Guadalcanal by Laurier

Enjoy a unique view of a famous airfield on Guadalcanal in WW II known as Fighter Two. Fighter Two was the home of the 339th Fighter Squadron, commanded by Col. John Mitchell. Flying the fabulous new Lockheed P-38 Lightnings, the 339th became one of the most successful fighter units in the Pacific Theater.
In one incredible mission of the war, the 339th achieved the longest over water interception ever attempted - resulting in the downing of Isoruko Yamamoto, Admiral of the Imperial Japanese Navy. Yamamoto was the man who orchestrated the attack at Pearl Harbor. When the Japanese lost this important military icon, they lost the war.
This limited edition print celebrates the 339th Fighter Squadron, the Lockheed P-38, and the men who flew her to victory.
