17 - Armor & Ground Combat

Into The Heart Of The Fatherland by Michael Wooten

The 4th Armored Division is legendary. From the time the division landed on French soil until the war in Europe was won, the 4th Armored was at the front. Under the command of General George Patton, it was the 4th Armored that led the relief of the 101st Airborne at Bastogne, and its tanks were the first to reach the Rhine. In 295 days of war the 4th Armored Division killed over 13,000 enemy soldiers, wounded over 8,000, and had captured 90,364 prisoners. The division destroyed 847 German tanks and over 3,000 other vehicles. This highly detailed print depicts M4A3 Sherman, tank of the 35th Battalion of the 4th Armored as it passes through the streets of Coblenz. The 4th Armored has reached the Rhine.

Each print has been individually signed by three combat tank commanders of the 35th Battalion.
