Historical artist Jerry Crandall has scored a coup by being the first to secure the autograph of Italy's leading living fighter ace! Sergente Maggiore LUIGI GORRINI flies his Macchi MC.202 "Vespa 2 85" over a column of Tiger I tanks in the Tunisian desert in this remarkable, historically accurate print.
After his initial victories over Africa he then flew in defense of Italy. October 1943, he joined the Italian National Republican Aviation (R.S.I.) where he was assigned to l Gruppo C.T.
Scoring a total of 24 victories he is the highest ranked living Italian Ace. His many awards include the Iron Cross II Class. Three Silver Medals and the Medal of Gold (The Medaglia d'Oro) for Military valor. Mr. Gorrini reentered the Italian military and served until 1979 retiring as an officer.
