Straggler, The
Commemorating the Eight United States Army Air Force, signed by the artist, Adolf Galland and `Johnnie' Johnson. This magnificent print, which has been reproduced to the highest standard using 300 gm acid-free paper and light-fast, fade-resistant inks, shows a damaged B-17 Flying Fortress limping homewards after a daylight bombing raid over Germany in the late summer of 1943. Circling warily overhead are Johnnie Johnson's Spitfire IX and Dolpho Galland's ME109F, each of them very conscious that the other fighters, whether friendly or hostile, could at any time join the party.
