Republic P-47 Thunderbolts of the famed 56th Fighter Group climb out over the coast of England on a combat mission during the Spring of 1944. Flight Officer Frank Klibbe in "Little Chief" completed his tour with seven victories. Lt. Robert "Shorty" Rankin, seen here flying alongside, shot down a total of 10, five of which occurred during a single mission.
