Hindenburg - Ship Of Dreams by Marii Chernev

The most famous airship ever to take to the heavens, LZ-129, The Hindenburg. Germany's symbol of national pride and the epitome of grace and elegance, the Hindenburg flew the world over, showcasing Germany's dominance in lighter than air rigid airship construction. Because of its fame, the tragic fate of the Hindenburg on May 6th 1937, at Lakehurst NJ, signaled the death knell of the rigid airship as a means of passenger travel. Capturing the awesome size and beauty of this levitation of the air, internationally known artist Marii Chernev has the Hindenburg passing over New York City, on its way to Lakehurst after another successful Atlantic Crossing. A curious student pilot and his instructor bring their Stearman trainer for a closer view of LZ-129 as in the background, an American Airlines Ford Tri-motor prepares to come in for a landing. Each of these breathtakingly beautiful prints is co-signed by Werner Franz, the lone surviving crewmember of the Hindenburg.
