Clifftop Chase by Geoff Nutkins

On Monday30th September 1940 Unteroffizier Horst Perez was expecting to be flying as bomber escort on a raid heading for London but never located them. He was intercepted by Sergeant Don Kingaby of 92 Squadron over the south coast of England. Horst Perez was no ace and had borrowed his mount from its former pilot Hauptman Karl Ebbighausen, Staffelkapitan of 4./JG26, lost earlier on the l6th August.
The 22 year old pilot had made a good wheels up landing and 'White 4' came to rest at Eastdean near Eastbourne in Sussex at 17.30 hours. Horst Perez and his aircraft survived the war, the Messerschmitt being shipped to Canada and the United States for propaganda purposes before it was discovered in a scrap yard by enthusiasts and returned to England some 20 years later!
The aircraft is now proudly on display again, the focal point of the Battle of Britain display at the Imperial War Museum, Duxford in Cambridgeshire
