A Bristol Beaufighter of 144 Sqn. takes evasive action from a FW-190 of 9/JG5 over Fordefjord, Norway, 9 February 1945. On this day, the Dallachy strike wing lost 9 out of 31 Beaufighters to the guns of JG5 from nearby Herdla. The Germans suffered badly as well in this epic, but little known, air battle with 5 FW190's failing to return. One of the pilots lost that day was 70 victory ace Lt. Rudi Linz Staffelfuhrer of 12/JG5.
